The Brief Biosocial Gambling Screen (BBGS)
Brief screens can help people decide whether to seek formal evaluation of their gambling behavior. The 3-item Brief Biosocial Gambling Screen (BBGS) is based on the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV) criteria for Gambling Disorder. A “yes” response to any single item indicates potential gambling-related problems and the need for additional evaluation.
The BBGS e-Screener
The BBGS e-Screener is an electronic version of the BBGS. This easy-to-use online form analyzes a respondent’s responses to the BBGS and creates a short report with personalized recommendations based on the screener results. The report also contains country-specific problem gambling and suicide hotline information. The BBGS e-Screener is available in 22 languages. All responses are anonymous; the Division does not collect or use any data related to this online form.
