Communities in Everett, MA have been increasingly exposed to gambling opportunities, including the (relatively new) Encore casino in Everett. However, there is often a lack of culturally and linguistically appropriate services for those who develop gambling-related problems, which results in disproportionate harm to minoritized community members. To address this need, the Division is partnering with the Everett Haitian Community Center to provide Everett Haitian community members with linguistically and culturally appropriate problem gambling prevention materials. Through this project, we hope to (1) reduce stigma about problem gambling in the Everett Haitian community, (2) improve knowledge about problem gambling in the Everett Haitian community, and (3) increase information-seeking and community support for problem gambling in the Everett Haitian community.
